Welcome to Penfold Tutors
Since 2015
Since 2015, Penfold Tutors has been offering tutoring services in Maths, English, Science, and Computer Science as well as languages such as Somali and Arabic. In addition, we assist students with their homework and assignments.
Our location is in the central area of Wandsworth Town, across from King Georges Park and behind the Southside Shopping Centre. Initially, we started as a Homework Workshop Club (Saturdays morning 10am -12pm) with the aim of supporting children from low-income families. Shortly after opening, we discovered that some of the children attending the centre were orphans. As a result, we decided not to charge this group anything for their participation. For other children, we only charged a fee of £2.50 per day for all subjects, which was used to cover the costs of renting the space and paying the tutors. Our goal has always been to break even financially, but there were times when we struggled to even cover the rent and tutor expenses.
We were approached by private tutors and tuition organizations who offered us financial payments and proposed taking over our operations. However, we turned down all of these offers because their principles and intentions did not align with ours. We discovered that these organizations were charging exorbitant fees to low-income families and orphans, which we found unacceptable.
Since the first lockdown in 2021, we have transitioned our services to an online platform, ensuring that children have access to affordable homework support. With my experience as an IT teacher in secondary schools and further education colleges for the past 24 years, we train young individuals who are studying A Levels/BTEC L3 and degrees to become tutors for KS3 and KS4 students. This not only allows them to earn some extra money but also enables them to contribute to the community by providing educational support. Our main focus is on delivering high-quality teaching and educational services rather than making a profit. We are committed to operating as a non-profit organization, prioritizing the needs of the students and the quality of education we provide.
Since lockdown, we have moved all classes to online. Our old website is closing soon.
